CERAMICS
BY MARCO LORENZETTO

Born and raised in Faenza, Italy, a city renowned as the birthplace of Majolica ceramic production, Marco’s first encounter with art came by way of the beautiful scenes and motifs that decorated the Majolica ceramics which permeated the city.  His own relations have specialized in the tradition since the early 1980’s.  Ceramics came as a natural medium for Marco when he sought out a new form of expression for his art in 2015.  Extending his artwork from vertical surfaces to table-top surfaces, Marco rejoiced at the idea of infusing his art into objects used everyday.

"Growing up in the city of Faenza, Italy I was completely surrounded by the beauty and light of art and ceramics. Ceramics was my finest art teacher. The International Museum of Ceramics was down the street from my childhood home. It was my playground. Growing up and learning about light and color and texture became second nature. I would make bowls and bring them home to my parents. It was fun. I love colors. Why not incorporate the history of my hometown of ceramics and my artwork by creating something happy, fearless & authentic. I like the idea that you can touch them, feel them and use them daily. You can’t do that with a painting. It brings living my life as an artist to a complete circle of happiness. Venturing into a new avenue with ceramics is very exciting especially because it brings a different audience from my painting world. I am incredibly honored to debut my ceramic collection at Bergdorf Goodman this summer.
Love, Marco"
